There's probably better tools for that kind of workflow, but I found a way to do this with Movie Maker to crank something out in less than an hour. Sometimes I may show my desktop running Audacity if I am trying to show the source file I'm using for the cassette recording tests. I may cut between different video/audio footage to compare cassettes or decks (or settings), layering text to show something like "deck A" and "deck B" as I switch between the two. Is the ratio A : B equivalent to the ratio C : D The calculator finds the values of A/B and C/D and compares the results to evaluate whether the statement is true or false. I do a lot of videos on audio cassettes and equipment, so I'd like to be able to have a video footage of a cassette deck, maybe it's VU meters, and a separate FLAC file that recorded the line-out of the deck. OpenShot looks super-duper easy, and I'll have to give it a go to see how I get on with it.Ĥ. I've tried KdenLive, and it looks somewhat easy, but it's still not as easy as Movie Maker. I'm currently trying to transition to Linux, and was also looking for a similar replacement. Being able to see the audio wave makes it easier to line up a video with a separate audio track. The built-in video editor in Photos is still missing some features (like transitions) and audio wave viewer.

Even in Windows 10, I find a way to get it installed. I've been using Windows Movie Maker for a long time now, and wish they never took it away. Kdenlive is all I need for my Youtube videos, including rotoscoping and greenscreen effects. As much as I love it, I just can't see it as an efficient tool for the editting that I end up doing for the most part. I've been using Blender since NaN (Not A Number, the company that Ton Rosenthal worked for when Blender started) was a thing. Put the time in and you'll be set later on. If you aim to get into doing Hollywood level stuff, start with Blender.

If you try some of the simpler packages, you may find that they can't grow with you and you will need to learn Kdenlive or something else later.Īs for using Blender, as some have recommended: Blender is extremely powerful and can do Hollywood level editing and such, but I have found it over powered and over complicated for simple editting. PHPMaker is a powerful automation tool that can generate a full set of PHP quickly from MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and SQLite databases.
